Our next length of road took us through the Badlands. It was very cool, we took video of the entire drive through. It kind of reminds me of an episode of Star Trek when they landed on a barren planet...but then, don't they always end up on a barren planet?
The Badlands
Budgie and The Metro rock the badlands.
There are tons of prairie dogs chillin' along the side of the road. They were very talkative little fellows. I tried to chirp/talk to them but they laughed at my accent.
Another major attraction (if you could call it an attraction) of South Dakota is a place called Wall Drug. We must have seen over a hundred signs for it before getting halfway through SD. It was more roadside propaganda that we got suckered into. Wall Drug is like Lake George but instead of a lake its in the middle of this broke down hillbilly town with all the traffic congestion and touristy crap of Lake George. By the way, if you ever go to Wall Drug bring food, Ange and I don't remember seeing a single restaurant.
Continuing with our day of tourism we stopped at Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse National Monument, and, because Ange hadn't seen enough buffalo yet, Custer State Park.
Imagine the hats.
Can't you tell what this is a picture of?
Crazy Horse National Monument is the mountain in the background. The white statue is what the monument will look like when completed, 'cept much bigger.
This monument was started by one man whose family has continued his work after he died. So far the face is done.
Buffalo, Mule Deer, a herd of Buffalo, a baby Buffalo and Mama and Rabbits. We also have video of a donkey pooping the middle of the road. Classic.
